Janet Mejias, CAC-AD
Therapist/Substance Abuse Counselor

Jan is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) candidate and a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD). She believes in the importance of building a trusting client-therapist relationship by creating a safe space where clients feel empowered to navigate challenges, identify their goals, and reach emotional wellness.
With a wealth of experience, Jan specializes in aiding both adults and children dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, trauma, grief/loss, and interpersonal relationships. Her therapeutic approach is person-centered, strength-based, compassionate, and holistic, drawing from modalities like Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness practices. Her passion lies in facilitating a  mind-body connection for emotional healing.

Jan attained her Bachelor's degree in Education from Towson University and furthered her education by obtaining a Master's degree in School Counseling from Liberty University. Currently, Jan is enrolled in the Community Care and Counseling doctorate program at Liberty University. Jan embarked on her professional journey in education, beginning her teaching career in Baltimore City. Subsequently, she dedicated 12 years of service working in Carroll County Public Schools, contributing her expertise in Behavioral Interventions and Support as well as School Counseling.  Driven by a passion for helping those grappling with co-occurring disorders, Jan transitioned to counseling in the specialized field of substance abuse counseling.

Jan has cultivated extensive experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and various demographics, acquired during her tenure in multiple school systems and the field of substance abuse. She possesses proficiency in individual, group, and family counseling, showcasing her dedicated commitment to creating a positive impact across a broad spectrum of clients.
