About Renee
Renee Leary is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing holistic, individualized, and compassionate mental health care for clients across the lifespan. She began her journey in mental health with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Franklin & Marshall College in 2008, where she first developed an appreciation for the complexity and prevalence of mental health disorders. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland School of Nursing through the U.S. Navy Nurse Candidate Program, graduating in 2011.

Following graduation, she served eight years as an active-duty Navy Nurse Corps officer, primarily in labor and delivery and postpartum care. Throughout her nursing career, she witnessed how mental health impacts the way individuals and families navigate illness, loss, and major life transitions, deepening her commitment to supporting her patients’ emotional well-being. After completing her military service and returning to Maryland, she worked in an adult intensive care unit during the Covid-19 pandemic, highlighting the need for compassionate, comprehensive mental health support in times of crisis. Motivated to focus her career on psychiatric care, she went on to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Johns Hopkins University.

She values a holistic, collaborative approach to mental health care, integrating medication management, psychotherapy, and lifestyle changes to create individualized treatment plans that align with each client’s goals, values, and lived experiences. She believes care is most effective when patients and providers work together as a team and finds meaning in helping individuals gain the tools to lead fulfilling, balanced lives. Her clinical interests include women’s mental health, substance use disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, and obsessive–compulsive disorder.

We are very excited and grateful to welcome Renee to the KTC team.
