Rachel Walker
Clinical Intern
Rachel is a Clinical Intern Therapist currently completing her Master’s in Social Work degree at University of Maryland, Baltimore. Her graduate coursework has focused on structural
oppression and systemic inequalities, cultural competency, advocacy, integrated health policy, human behavior, clinical interventions (like psychodynamic theory and Cognitive Behavioral Theory), and social work practice with individuals, groups and families.
She also holds a Bachelor’s in Criminology & Criminal Justice from University of Maryland, College Park. She prides herself in work that encompasses helping underserved individuals and populations throughout the community, while using motivational interviewing, strength-based approaches, as well as person centered and trauma informed care. Her prior work experience consists of case management roles, where she has assisted young adults with their mental health goals to maintain/obtain employment, helped individuals throughout their recovery journey from substance use, as well as helped active duty service members and their families gear up to transition out of the military and into civilian life. With the guidance and supervision from licensed clinicians, Rachel will be utilizing their valuable insight to best support clients. Rachel believes that everyone at Kindred Treatment Center deserves a non-judgemental safe space to feel heard and understood, and she is eager to be there to support you with any/all challenges that life throws your way!
A couple fun facts about Rachel: she enjoys hiking, camping (both tent & glamping), pretty
much anything outdoorsy, weightlifting, going to concerts, she’s the daughter of a veteran, and she has adopted three fur babies Eggroll, Sushi, and Gizmo.
