Mary Leonard is involved with all aspects of our programming, to include overseeing our outpatient substance use department. With a wealth of experience spanning various levels of care, Mary has a unique ability to connect with individuals wherever they may be on their journey, leveraging both their strengths and her own to build a sturdy foundation for recovery.

In addition to her hands-on experience with patients, Mary possesses a strong sense of leadership, drive, and organization, serving as a guiding force for both KTC staff and patients alike. Her educational background is as diverse as her professional experience, beginning with an associate's degree in art education from Montgomery County Community College. She then transitioned to working in the Frederick County Public School system, where she dedicated her efforts to children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. In 2022, Mary achieved national recognition as a Certified Anger Management Specialist.

Mary's academic journey continued at the University of Maryland, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Seeking to deepen her understanding and impact in mental health counseling, she pursued a Master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Walden University. Mary is on track to complete her specialization in forensics by 2025.

A Carroll County native, Mary finds solace and joy in her personal pursuits, including gardening, yoga, and traveling with her husband and two children. She also shares her life with two beloved dogs and two exceptional horses, maintaining her passion for equestrianism by continuing to ride and teach, after 15 years of competing at the international level.

We are privileged to have Mary integrated into our program, and anticipate her continued success and contributions to KTC.
