Katrina Criaris, LMSW

Katrina has worked in the Behavioral Health field since 2010. She has experience working with many populations. Katrina’s professional career began while working with individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries. She has also worked in a community supportive housing setting, assisting individuals with transitioning into the community following inpatient mental health treatment. Katrina has worked with those experiencing homelessness and substance use disorder as a counselor and also by linking clients to services, financial entitlements, and affordable housing opportunities. 

 

Katrina has experience providing counseling in individual and group settings. She has helped to support individuals experiencing both a mental health diagnosis and substance use disorder, which is known as co-occurring disorders. Katrina is comfortable assisting clients through managing symptoms of Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Schizophrenia disorders.

 

Katrina believes in meeting each person where they are and providing support to clients along the way to help them reach their identified goals. Each client is their own expert and services provided should be tailored to each individual, which allows for the utilization of various therapeutic interventions. Katrina primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches, including motivational interviewing skills when working with clients.

 

Katrina was born and raised in New Jersey, moving to Maryland in July of 2021. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Stockton University in New Jersey and her Master’s of Social Work Degree from Walden University. She loves to travel, spend time on the beach and outside in nature, and enjoys time with family, friends, and her dog.
